World AIDS Day observed in OSRP road corridors
       The World, AIDs Day was observed on 1st Dec’10 in the 3 years one roads corridors of OSRP. The Implementing NGO, Contractor (JV) and Resident Engineer’s team in each Package Participated in the functions. HIV/AIDS control in the corridors of OSRP are included in the project proposal

World Bank Interim Review: Mission visits Orissa (19-20 November, 2010 and 24-25 November,2010).

        The Interim Review Mission of the World Bank led by Mr. Rajesh Rohtagi, Task Team Leader visited Orissa on 19-20 November 2010. The Team included Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Mr SriKumar Tadimalla, Mr. Swaminathan and Mr. Mohammad Hasan.Its Governance Specialist Mr. Krishnan visited on 24-25 November, 2010.
         The Interim Mission conducted site visits to the three year-1 road packages, inspected the works, campsite and site laboratories, interacted with the team led by Resident Engineer for interim arrangement of supervision. The World Bank team was apprised of the manpower mobilization for supervision of works. The World Bank team conducted detailed review as the implementation of the Project with Chief Engineer (World Bank Project) and his team and appreciated the efforts in LA, R&R and full scale mobilization for supervision. The World Bank team desired that the contractors (Joint Ventures) should promptly respond in terms of mobilization of their resources to expedite the progress as the real construction season has started. The World Bank team met and discussed with EIC-cum-Secretary to Govt. , Works Department.
          Mr. Krishanan Srinivasan, Governance Specialist of the World Bank inspected the existing laboratory facilities in RD & QP and had detailed discussions with Chief Engineer, RD & QP, Chief Engineer(World Bank Projects), Addl. Secretary and finally with the EIC-cum-Secretary on GAAP related subjects. It was proposed to hold the first workshop on “Quality and Vigilance-Roles and Activities “ in the 3rd week of January,2011. Government terminates the supervision consultancy contact of M/s SMEC International Pty. Ltd.

The Consultancy Contract Of M/s SMEC International Pty. Ltd. in association with M/s SMEC(India) Pvt. Ltd. and M/s CMEC Consulting Engineers(Agreement No. 1 of 2008/09) for construction supervision of widening and improving the existing carriageway in 3 Year-1 road packages (PO1,PO2,PO3) of OSRP was terminated by Governement (Vide Letter No. 11101 Dtd. 03 Aug 2010) of the contract after concurrence by World Bank-Read More

Government approves interim arrangement for supervision of works in OSRP

Following The termination of the contract of supervision consultant M/s SMEC International Pty. Ltd. in association with M/s SMEC(India) Pvt. Ltd. and M/s CMEC Consulting Engineers, Government approved the interim arrangement for supervision of works of 3 year-1 road packages (i.e P01,P02,P03) under OSRP so as to maintain continuity and expedite progress in accordance with the approved interim arrangement which has also been agreed by the World bank the following Executive engineers have been posted as dedicated Resident Engineers (RE's) to function as the Engineer for the respective packages as stipulated in construction contract.

Each RE is supported by experienced Asst Engineers and Juniour Engineers of Works department who have been posted under them and backed by the line experts like highway engineers,bridge engineers,quality monitor etc.,who are hired from the market.

PMU(OSRP) while promptly operationalising this interim arrangement for work supervision has not only prevented time overun but also mentained the much needed continuity in expediting progress in the peak of construction season post monsoon.

Internation Seminar on "Reducing Carbon Foot Prints in Road Constructions"
Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and World Road Association (PIARC) will be jointly holding an International seminar on "Reducing Carbon Foot Prints in Road Construction" at New Delhi from 17th to 19th February 2011 in co-operation with Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Central/State Govt. Deptts., State PWDs and leading Public & Private Sector Organisations, Consultants, Contractors etc vide Letter No. IRC-19(2)/2011 Dt-23 August 2010.

Minister reviews the status of Jagatpur - Chandbali road
Hon’ble Minister, Energy reviewed the progress made in the preparatory activities of the proposed widening and improvement of Jagatpur-Chandbali road (SH-9 A & SH-9) under OSRP on 16.08.2010. It was attended by Hon’ble Minister, Higher Education, R.D.C(CD) Cuttack, Engineer-in-chief-cum-Secretary, Works Department, Chief Engineer (World Bank Projects), District Collector (Kendrapara), District Collector (Cuttack) and other officials. Key dates were fixed for Land acquisition, Enumeration of trees, Utility shifting and for calling the bids in ICB mode.

World Bank Mission visited Orissa (8th-13th August 2010)
A World Bank team led by Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Senior Transport Specialist, Sustainable Development (South Asia), the World Bank, visited Orissa from 8th to 13th August 2010 for reviewing the progress of Orissa State Road Projects. The team consisted of Mr. Rajesh Rohatgi, Mr SriKumar Tadimalla, Mr. Swaminathan, Mr. Mohammad Hasan, Mrs. Neha Vyas, Mrs. Kumudini Choudhary, Mr. Yash Gupta and Mr. Krishan Srinivasan. The team conducted site visit of the three year-1 road corridors & reviewed the progress, constraints & advised the PMU, consultant & contractor for remedial action.
